Choose The Right Plan for You!

1. Dental Cleaning

You can’t get more basic than this! At Art of Modern Dentistry we will use the latest available technology to get your teeth clean and remove stains, tartar and other buildup. Your cleaning will also help freshen your breath!

Length of Procedure Usually 45 to 60 minute appointment

Number of Visits One or more cleanings depending on how much stain and tartar there is and how long it has been since your last cleaning

Anesthesia May need surface (topical) or local anesthesia if your teeth are sensitive or if a deeper cleaning is needed

Duration of Results You should have your teeth cleaned every 3 to 6 months depending on your individual situation

Recovery Time None

Risks None

2. Whitening

Whiter, brighter, lighter. If you like everything about your teeth except their color, using specialized whitening gels and lasers may be the solution for you. At Art of Modern Dentistry, we offer several options if you’re interested in whitening your teeth to their brightest and whitest natural state.

Options for Whitening Your Teeth
There are many whitening options available so it may seem overwhelming, especially when you have a wedding to plan! Four popular and options with varying speed and consistency of results which you might consider are:
-Art of Modern Dentistry’s one hour, in-office whitening treatment
-Art of Modern Dentistry custom whitening trays and gels
-Over-the-counter gels and other products
-Whitening Toothpastes

In-office teeth whitening At Art of Modern Dentistry we use Zoom!® which is a leading tooth whitening system that is the culmination of extensive research into light activated chemical technology and years of traditional whitening experience. Zoom!® uses a specially designed UV light in combination with a specifically formulated whitening gel. Zoom!® is safe, effective and very fast, and performed only by a dental professional at Art of Modern Dentistry. In-office whitening is slightly more expensive than other options, but the time that you save by having immediate results can make this option appealing.

At-home whitening trays and gels are effective as well, however the desired results take longer to achieve. The gel-filled trays generally need to be worn for several hours a day or overnight, and it usually takes 3 or 4 days before any results are noticed. Teeth whitening kits provided by Art of Modern Dentistry will produce faster and more effective results because they contain a stronger peroxide-whitening agent than kits that can be purchased over the counter.

Over-the-counter whitening products such as whitening strips are fairly inexpensive but are not as strong as most gels and may produce inconsistent and potentially uneven results. Further, seeing results usually takes take longer since the peroxide-whitening agent in teeth whitening strips is not as strong as the chemicals available from a dentist.

Whitening toothpastes contain mild abrasives to remove surface stains. Some whitening toothpastes may have additional polishing agents and special chemicals that are more effective against stains than regular toothpastes, but these toothpastes are not designed to actually whiten your teeth.

Are You a Good Candidate for Whitening Your Teeth?
While having your teeth whitened is relatively inexpensive and can produce amazing results, but it’s not for everyone.
-Teeth whitening does not produce the same results on all types of teeth discoloration.
-Someone with yellow-tinted teeth would probably have great results with whitening procedures, while someone with gray-tinted teeth might be disappointed because they don’t whiten as well.
-If you have tooth coloring fillings and / or crowns and bridges, they will be darker after your teeth are bleached because they don’t lighten with the whitening process.
-A person with gum disease should not get their teeth whitened.

During your visit to Art of Modern Dentistry, one of our dentists or technician will be able to quickly tell you if you would be a good candidate for teeth whitening.

Length of Procedure Usually 60 minutes in-office while at-home whitening requires 30 min/day for up to several weeks until desired results are achieved

Number of Visits One visit

Anesthesia None

Duration of Results Depending on your individual situation regarding variables such as diet, tobacco use, wine consumption, and original tooth color

Recovery Time None

Risks Potential minor sensitivity to heat and cold

Before you truly “bond” with your spouse, make sure those little chips on your front teeth or broken and/or discolored old fillings are replaced with the latest tooth colored bonding materials. This procedure provides life-like restoration of teeth with “high-tech” materials that bond and become part of the teeth themselves while retaining the same light transmitting properties of tooth enamel. You’ll never know that they’re not yours. This is a same day procedure, but you must have had your dental exam completed at Art of Modern Dentistry prior to this appointment where the dentist will tell you how long your cosmetic appointment will take.

Length of Procedure Depending on the size of the surface area that needs to be repaired, expect 45 to 60 minutes per tooth

Number of Visits One visit

Anesthesia Usually unnecessary but local anesthesia is available upon request

Duration of Results Varies depending on your diet

Recovery Time None

Risks Bonding can be damaged during the chewing of hard foods

4. Veneers

By definition, a veneer is a “thin outer covering, a deceptively attractive outer show”. Veneers offer a great and effective way to change both the shape and the color of your teeth and not just for an hour, day or week, but forever. Veneers require reducing the outer enamel shell of the teeth and replacing it with glass like porcelain, improving on what nature gave you and providing a result that both technology and artistry can achieve. With veneers you can achieve both the look and the color that you have always desired. The process to get your veneers can take as long as three months, so please allow enough time if this is a process that you would like to consider.

Length of Procedure Depends on the number of teeth that need veneers

Number of Visits Two to four visits including the examination

Anesthesia Topical anesthesia or local anesthesia but may not be needed

Duration of Results Can last 10 to 15 years with proper dental maintenance

Recovery Time None

Risks In rare situations, temporary sensitivity to cold and heat

5. Periodontal Plastic Surgery

Today, surgical techniques can visibly alter your gum tissue and its relationship to your teeth. “Gummy smiles” can be corrected, exposed root surfaces covered and more. These reshaping surgical procedures use sophisticated techniques which result in comfortable recovery and minimal healing time. Periodontal surgery (tooth lengthening) may also be needed before teeth can be restored for cosmetic purposes.

Length of Procedure 1 to 3 hours depending on the procedure needed

Number of Visits 2 to 4 visits including post-operative checks

Anesthesia Usually only local anesthesia is necessary, but options available include oral or conscious sedation

Duration of Results Can last a lifetime with good dental health and proper periodontal maintenance with cleanings every 3 to 4 months

Recovery Time Usually a patient will experience only minor discomfort and swelling which can be minimized by low strength, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic medication and antibiotics

Risks Minor thermal sensitivity for a few weeks following surgery

6. Dental Implants

Natural looking and functional stand-alone tooth replacement systems consist of an implant – a root replacement which permanently joins to the bone and to which a crown is attached. Just like the teeth in your mouth, but unlike natural teeth, implants will not decay or develop gum disease. Dental implants take planning and time (3 to 12 months) to provide permanent tooth replacements.

Length of Procedure 1 to 3 hours depending on the number of implants placed. Crown(s) on implants are separate appointments (at least 3)

Number of Visits Multiple visits including post-operative checks

Anesthesia Usually only local anesthetic, but options include conscious sedation, or general anesthesia

Duration of Results Implants can last you a lifetime!

Recovery Time 1 to 3 days requiring minor non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic medication (Ibuprofen) and antibiotics

Risks Are few but can in extreme cases include anything from infection to failure

7. Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment is an ingenious scientific discovery that has allowed the dental professional to accurately and precisely move teeth into improved aesthetic alignment and functional position. At Art of Modern Dentistry, we are a premier provider of Invisalign™, a breakthrough technology that lets you have the smile you’ve always wanted – without the hassle of braces.

By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign™ straightens your teeth with results you’ll notice sooner than you think. An Invisalign™ course of treatment can take anywhere from 2 – 24 months.

The course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks, with each aligner progressively moving your teeth into a more aesthetically pleasing position, until you have a more beautiful smile. The total number of clear aligners is specific to your smile and determined by our dentists. And unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth as usual.

Invisalign™ is practically invisible! In fact, very few people will notice it unless you tell them.

Length of Procedure For adults, treatment usually requires from 2 to 24 months

Number of Visits Multiple visits and adjustments every 3 to 6 weeks

Anesthesia None

Duration of Results Usually lifetime, although may require ongoing use of a retainer at night. Natural aging may also lead to slight and gradual changes over time

Recovery Time None

Risks Your gum tissue must be healthy to have orthodontics safely as an adult. Cleanings every 3 to 6 months are important to prevent potential bone loss
