The Best Tips For A Healthy Smile

There are so many ways that people will tell you how to take care of your teeth. And with all these products that claim to know what is best for you can be quite overwhelming. But today the best dentist in the south loop area is here to tell you the truth about the best way to take care of that pearly white smile of yours.

1. Mouthwash Isn't all That It's Cracked up To Be

Just as Hand Sanitizer can be overused, so can mouthwash. Mouthwash will kill the good bacteria and the bad bacteria. This means that you are more prone to getting sick. Dentists are leery of you using mouthwash unless you are impaired or have an injury that makes brushing hard to do.

2. Use A Sensitive-Bristle Toothbrush

When you use a harder bristle toothbrush you are making it easier to erode the enamel on your teeth. This is what will cause your teeth to look dull and not give you that bright white smile. So to keep a lackluster smile, don't brush aggressively or push your toothbrush hard on your teeth.

3. Don't Brush Your Teeth In The Shower

Killing two birds with one stone is not the best idea when it comes to brushing your teeth. If you leave your toothbrush in the shower it will grow mold lots and lots of mold. (YUCK) as it creates a damp muggy environment. So when you reach for that toothbrush day in and day out it will build up things you wouldn't want to put into your mouth.

4. Floss Floss Floss

Try a little experiment by going without flossing for a good 4-5 days. Then floss those teeth of yours. After flossing, ball the string up in your hand and smell it. That disgustingness should make you never want to be without flossing your teeth again. Make sure to floss first and then brush as this will make sure you brush away all the plaque build up.

5. Whole Cloves Will Fight Bad Breath

When you use mints, gum, mouthwash and other magical remedies try Whole cloves from the spice section at your local grocery store. It will help get rid of that bad breath. Just suck on it for a little while. But halitosis is something you need to see your doctor for as it is coming from your stomach.

6. Try Swishing Oil

Take a teaspoon of oil-usually sesame or coconut and swish it around your mouth for a good 15 minutes every day. Doing so can help whiten teeth, improve your skin condition, who wouldn't love that. Some studies will suggest that oil pulling can prevent bad breath and gingivitis. This isn't conclusive yet, so don't feel like this is a cure all. The plus side is it can't hurt you to do this, so If you ever want to give it a try, you won't have to worry about your health.
